My Favorite Firefox Extensions

Here’s a list of absolutely great Firefox plugins that I keep installing in every computer I use:

  • Adblock Plus – get rid of the ads on the pages!
  • Better Gmail – get a better Gmail experience on your browser.
  • Fasterfox – surf much faster!
  • Firebug – how did we do web development before it?
  • FireFTP – I threw all my FTP clients off the window after this one.
  • Gspace – use your Gmail account as a remote hard drive!
  • Google Notebook – take notes as you browse (incredibly useful for my degree)
  • Google Toolbar – do I need to tell you to install it?
  • IE Tab – (Windows only) switch between the IE and the Gecko engine with a single click!
  • Load Time Analyzer – useful to troubleshoot slow-loading sites.
  • Selenium – how do you do your functional tests?
  • PDF Browser Plugin – (Mac OS X only) a faster way to show PDF files directly on the browser (faster than Adobe’s own plugin, which by the way does not work on Firefox on the Mac!)
  • Scrapbook – want to save a snapshot of the current website in your disk?
  • Showcase – get the “Expose” effect on your Firefox browser!
  • Web Developer Toolbar – Firebug’s best friend.
  • Total Validator – do your web pages validate against standards?

If you have any preferred plugins, just let me know in the comments below!
